Company History

RefactorU has been changing lives since 2013

RefactorU was created with the purpose of changing lives

In 2012, RefactorU founder Sean Daken was working for tech startup in Boulder, CO. While building a web development team for his company, Sean found it was extremely difficult to find qualified web developers, a chronic problem faced by fellow entrepreneurs. To respond to the shortage, Sean launched RefactorU as an experiential learning company with the objective of changing 10,000 lives by 2020.

In 2016, RefactorU began working with higher education to launch bootcamps in several locations. Our network of affiliate campuses continues to grow rapidly, providing immersive training to students across the country.

RefactorU was one of the first schools to offer a full-stack JavaScript bootcamp

Changing lives ten weeks at a time

Since 2013, RefactorU has graduated hundreds of full-stack web developers from our 10 week immersive bootcamp, successfully starting them on the journey to become world class web developers.

“Learning web development has completely changed my life. I have stability doing something I love. I am so grateful for the opportunities I've been given over the past several months that have allowed me to transform my life. For the first time, I know that everything is going to be ok because of things I'm doing, rather than depending on others.”

Our students are like family, and we cherish the relationships we’ve built with them over the years.

“I want RefactorU to be the source for people who want to change careers and elevate their lives. We designed a sustainable program where people learn HOW to learn, and know how to explore the tech world after graduating from RefactorU.”
